How we style a dining room is one of those decisions that not only affects our home interior, but also our quality of life. A dining room must be beautiful to look at, sure, but it must also be convenient to dine in. The most important piece of the dining room is, understandably, a dining table. There’s more to decorating a dining room than just picking out a table and setting it in the center of the room. Additions like a stylish rug can make a big difference to the overall ambiance.
Our dinner plates are a discontinued pattern from Crate & Barrel (learn more about the Claire pattern here). The teal appetizer plates come from CB2 and are a gloriously affordable $1.99 apiece! We love the idea of topping each plate with a special bite, such as round crackers covered in goat cheese and pink peppercorn. Our greenery was picked up at the local market, labeled “California filler” and sold for $3 a bunch!
From modern farmhouse dining spaces to ones with understated rustic charm and a dash of wooden warmth, homeowners no longer want just a polished, contemporary dining area. It is all about giving the room a distinct character even while allowing it to blend in with the larger theme of the open plan living. With that in mind, here are 15 inspirations that bring home cozy rustic effervescence even while staying true to modern functionality. Some more modern than others, there is something here for everyone!
